The report, based on interviews with 1,000 parents and their children aged 11-18, shows a notable change in attitudes across the United Kingdom. It indicates a clear divergence from the long-standing emphasis on university education, reflecting a broader societal re-evaluation of career preparation. This trend has particular relevance for the engineering and manufacturing sectors, which rely heavily on a steady supply of skilled technical talent.

The Enginuity survey paints a compelling picture of evolving perspectives, with 90% of young people expressing a willingness to choose an apprenticeship over a degree. This interest isn’t confined to students; 71% of parents now say they would encourage their children to pursue an apprenticeship, marking an increase from 67% in 2025.
