Burnham also stressed that “For too long in this country, students have been told that you must take the academic path to do well and to be respected.” He articulated a vision for “an education system based on parity between academic and technical which gives all young people a clear path in life.”

Ofsted will also adapt its inspection methods to properly assess technical education and support for young people entering the workforce.

Their efforts address challenges like tariffs, supply chain disruptions, and the increasing adoption of automation and artificial intelligence, reflecting global trends in industrial skills development.
