Egyptian billionaire and industrial magnate Mohamed Mansour has launched a major new venture aimed at boosting Egypt’s manufacturing capacity and advancing its green transport ambitions.

His company, Mansour Automotive Group (MAC), has commenced construction on a $150 million transport vehicle factory in 6th of October City, a key industrial hub west of Cairo.

Once completed, the new MAC Transport Vehicles plant is expected to produce 50,000 environmentally friendly vehicles in its initial phase.

Mansour described the project as a major stride toward Egypt’s long-term sustainability goals and its transition to cleaner transport systems.

He noted that the facility will create between 6,000 and 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, while also supporting the nation’s commitment to innovation-driven industrial growth, BillionairesAfrica reports.

“We want this project to be a symbol of industrial progress and innovation in Egypt,” Mansour said during the ceremony.

Government partnership and local production boost

Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Al-Wazir praised the investment, calling it a “strategic milestone” in Egypt’s broader plan to localize vehicle production and reduce reliance on imports.

He emphasized that the factory’s strategic location, close to key highways and logistics corridors, will enhance distribution efficiency and attract further industrial investment.

According to Al-Wazir, Egypt’s Ministries of Industry and Transport are actively collaborating with private investors like Mansour to bring in global technology, strengthen local expertise, and build export capacity.

“Our goal is clear: Egypt should become a leading center for vehicle manufacturing in Africa and the Middle East,” he said.

The new venture reinforces the Mansour Group’s growing influence in Egypt’s industrial and automotive landscape.

Valued at over $6 billion, the conglomerate already serves as the exclusive distributor of Caterpillar machinery in Egypt and seven other African nations.

The group’s operations span automotive, logistics, consumer goods, and financial services across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.

Through this investment, Mansour is not only strengthening his group’s manufacturing base but also aligning with Egypt’s national agenda to build a sustainable, self-reliant industrial economy, one capable of producing globally competitive products from Egyptian soil.
