Makera launched an integrated ecosystem of CNC software, mobile control, and a community platform on 6 August 2026.
The new offering brings together Makera Studio, Makerables, and the Makera App, providing a unified platform for design, fabrication, and community engagement. Makera CEO Josh Zhang stated the goal is to make advanced manufacturing more accessible.
Makera’s integrated desktop CNC ecosystem
The ecosystem represents a strategic shift towards providing an end-to-end solution for desktop CNC users. Before this launch, makers often relied on disparate tools for design, toolpath generation, machine control, and sharing their creations. Makera has consolidated these functions into a cohesive suite.
This integration supports project discovery, file preparation, machining, and learning within a single workflow. Users can now move seamlessly between different stages of their projects. This reduces friction and the learning curve often associated with complex CNC operations.

Makera claims users can complete their first project in under 60 minutes. Makera Studio is compatible with Windows and Mac devices. It is free for all Makera customers, with a 15-day free trial available for non-customers.
Extensive design and machining operations
Makera Studio supports a comprehensive range of 2D and 3D operations. For 2D designs, it handles contouring, pocketing, drilling, thread milling, and chamfering. This covers a broad spectrum of common fabrication tasks.
3D designs benefit from relief, contouring, pocketing, drilling, thread milling, and chamfering operations. It also supports 4-axis rotary machining tool paths for rotation relief. Laser processing paths for vector and image engraving are also included.
Design flexibility extends to tracing image features from JPG, PNG, and BMP files into vector contours. Users can also trace 3D contours directly from STL and STEP files. Object transformation tools, such as moving, rotating, scaling, and mirroring, provide further control over designs.
Connecting creators: the Makerables community platform
Beyond the technical software, Makerables provides a global community platform specifically for CNC creators. This platform is a central hub for inspiration and collaboration. It allows makers to discover new projects, publish their own work, and exchange ideas with peers.

The Makera App extends the functionality of Studio and Makerables to mobile devices. This allows users to connect with and control their Makera machines directly from a smartphone. The app supports wireless CNC machine control from Android devices, with iOS compatibility planned.
Through its integration with Makerables, the app lets users browse featured projects and community creations on the go. While advanced AI-powered content generation and project publishing remain desktop features, the mobile app focuses on project discovery and machine control.
The app provides G-code file management and machining control. It also offers real-time machining status monitoring. This gives users immediate feedback on their ongoing projects. The app is free to download, has a content rating of “Everyone”, and currently supports Carvera and Carvera Air machines.
The Makera App was updated on 13 July 2026. It has seen 390 downloads as of 3 August 2026, averaging 22 downloads per day over the last 30 days. Its APK download size is 18.28 MB, with the latest version being 1.0. Importantly, Makera states that no data is shared with third parties or collected by the app.
